Safe cooking Temperatures

Turkey should ideally be cooked to an internal temperature of 165 degrees.

We have found that these farm raised meats handle a long slow cook very well. They are juicy and don't seem to shrink and dry out like many store bought meats. We like to joke and call them "busy person friendly" as sometimes I forget to check and they get too hot in temperature, but are not dry or tough.

We love our Meator thermometer for cooking, we are a busy household and being able to monitor the progress remotely is a big help.

Turkeys!!!

Turkeys are something we have wanted to add for quite some time, this year we finally jumped in. And wow, they are not only fun to have around, they grew so well.

We can do wholes, halves, breasts, ground, giblets, necks, and smoked legs.

  • Delivery to your door

Click here for our Delivery/Shipping options, we want to make sure you can get just what you want.

  • Being part of our Community

Between supporting our local school fundraisers and social causes, taking farm animals to the PCH's, donating to the soup kitchens, or inviting youth out to experience the farm, we love being a part of our community. By supporting a small business, you support a whole rural community.

  • If we sell it, we've raised it.

We raise everything we sell. We've built our herds from local producers, put up our own feed, and all of our livestock are butchered at small independant businesses.

When you spend a dollar here, you know it is going to stay in the rural communities and support families.

Ask us anything, if we don't have the answer, we will find it for you

FAQ

Are your Turkeys organic?

Unfortunately not. Since we feed them a mineral supplement to ensure they get everything they need to stay healthy as well as source our grains from nearby farmers we cannot ensure that those are all organic at this time.

Are your turkeys on pasture?

We would LOVE to be able to have the turkeys on pasture, and this is something that we will try to develop in the future. Right now our turkeys live outdoors once they are old enough, their run is in our backyard right under our apple trees.

There are a couple factors we need to figure out for pastured poultry.

  • Our pastures are currently too far from home to easily monitor water systems in the very hot summer days and to move the turkey tractors easily.
  • Our guardian dogs are accustomed the the home yard, the nearest pasture would be across the highway and we are concerned if the dogs tried to come home there would be a very sad accident.
  • Our turkey's run is in our backyard right under our apple trees. They appreciate the shade of the trees from the sun and rain/hail.

What medications are the turkeys given?

The baby poults are all given electrolytes when they arrive from the hatchery to ensure they drink as much as possible. Other than that they are not medicated. Any turkey that is sick or injured is removed from the group into a brooder box to rest and recover.

What kind of turkeys are they?

We chose to go with Orlopp Bronze for our first year of raising turkeys. We wanted something hearty and relatively docile. They are a heirloom breed knows for their health and flavour.
