Smoked Dog Bones

Sam loves his dog Odie.

Odie loves Sam.

Odie is too shy to take most types of treats, so Sam decided to smoke some beef bones to entice his massive dog.

These are made with our large packages of beef bones, smoked in the smoker, perfect for those four legged household members. Once Sam has finished smoking them, they are cut to reasonable sized chunks and packaged up. They typical package can have 2-4 bones in it.

These are priced at $5/lb, packages vary between 1.5-2lbs so a $7.00/package deposit is taken. The total is calculated upon weighing and balance due upon shipping.

  • Odie

Odie was the inspiration for Sam's Smoked Bones. He might have been the tallest dog ever but he wouldn't take a treat if his life depended on it. So Sam started making these to entice the big guy.

  • Annie

Annie is our hardworking yard protector. She patrols the yard all night long keeping the chickens safe and chasing squirrels all day. She will meet everyone at the drive for belly rubs though.

  • Lily

While Lily has all the background to be a good herding dog, anything bigger than the calves she's out, those big cows are just too big! She and Brian love sharing a bowl of popcorn though.

  • Bailey

The newest additon to the farm is Bailey, here to help Annie out. Though at this point her favourite job is to bark at the pigs if they look at the fence too much.

Meat that Tastes like it's Story...

We are a family.

That wanted to help your family.

We chose to do that through food.

Good wholesome food that feeds your body, mind, soul, community, and environment.

Family is the Heart of this Farm

Brian started Evergreen Alley Farms with his kids in mind, creating the opportunity for their future, a lifestyle they could be hands on with, and teaching them skills and work ethic to be successful in life.

Both Madelyn and Sam are active in the day to day running of the farm, taking care of animals, creating meatboxes and videos, as well as numerous other activities. But mostly having fun and being silly.

Single Ingredient Treats

These dog bones are simple.

Beef bones smoked by Sam to cure them and give that delicious aroma that your dogs will love. No added random ingredients with names no one can pronounce, no spray on preservatives or additives.

Just beef bones.

Evergreen Alley Farms

We are working hard to make the transition into a regenerative style of management. We know that we can raise meats that are not only tasting better, but also higher in nutrition, and give back to our soils and lands, allowing them to heal and regrow at the same time.

We know if we can build a sustainable farm, we can provide a sustainable food source for you.

Can people eat these?

These bones are NOT smoked in a commercial kitchen so they are sold as for dogs ONLY.

What are the animals fed?

The livestock at Evergreen Alley are fed a combination of feeds depending on the stage of growth. Chickens are fed special feed for chicks and electrolytes until they are 3 weeks old, then they move outdoors and feed a grain and supplement mix.

The pigs are on grains and supplement. And All the kitchen scraps they can handle! (Their favourite part)

The cattle are forage fed until their last 6-10 weeks. We add a bit of grain to their diet to help them adjust to people and reduce any stress before butchering time.

Are your chickens and pigs on pasture?

We would LOVE to be able to have the chickens on pasture, and this is something that we will try to develop in the future.

There are a couple factors we need to figure out for pastured chickens and pigs.

  • Our pastures are currently too far from home to easily monitor water systems in the very hot summer days and to move the chicken tractors easily.
  • Our guardian dogs are accustomed the the home yard, the nearest pasture would be across the highway and we are concerned if the dogs tried to come home there would be a very sad accident.
  • Our chickens live in large runs in the evergreen shelterbelts of the main yard. They have done a great job of cleaning up the undergrowth and knocking down some wild hedging. We have quite a bit more shelterbelt they could tackle while in the shade of the large trees.

How much medication do we use?

As farmers, we are always monitoring our animal's health. We adjust feed, locations, etc to prevent illness. Sometimes medications are used as we don't want the animals to suffer in any way.

The baby chicks are all given electrolytes when they arrive from the hatchery to ensure they drink as much as possible. Other than that they are not medicated. Any chicken that is sick or injured is removed from the group into a brooder box to rest and recover.

Pigs are given a bit of medication to prevent infection when they are castrated and weaned. Cause mud and open wounds are a bad combination as we all know.

Any cattle that are medicated are removed from the direct sales part of the farm and allocated elsewhere.

What kind of cattle are we raising?

We have a mix of a few breeds. We started with primarily Angus, and experimented with some Highland. These added a very fine grained leaner meat quality but with their shaggy coats, had very little respect for the electric fences!

We have recently acquired a Shaver bull, also known for their meat quality so we will know in a few years if that is so.

What is your return policy?

We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. Unfortunately due to the perishable nature meat and eggs we are unable to offer a refund. We try our best to package everything in a way that ensures a safe arrival. If for some reason you are not satisfied, please reach out to us. We make every effort to rectify the situation to your satisfaction.
